Last week, reports from the Spanish media claimed that Liverpool placed a €25m bid for Celta Vigo star Gabriel Veiga.

With the Reds offer getting rejected, it now seems that other interested sides felt encouraged to bring more money to the conversation.

According to Sport, Napoli now showed up and placed a €30m bid on the table.

It’s well known that Veiga is protected by a €40m release clause, and it seems the effort from the Serie A side will still not be enough, with the report claiming club president Carlos Mourinho will not give any discounts.

Sport points out that Napoli are trying to get ahead of other clubs who are interested, and Liverpool get a mention in that list, along with Real Madrid and Manchester City.

The outlet also recalls Cope’s report regarding the Reds bid, saying Celta Vigo already turned that down.

Napoli may have made a better bid, but both interested sides still seem a little far from the request made by the La Liga side. The Spanish club know how valuable the player is and clearly expect clubs to turn up with more money.
