The intermediary representing Liverpool striker Divock Origi has informed AC Milan the Reds will not be extending his deal.

That’s according to journalist Rudy Galetti, who says the striker has been ‘proposed’ to Milan, and they are now eyeing a deal.

We covered a report earlier today that stated Milan were keen on the Belgian, and club chief Paolo Maldini has been captivated by the player during Liverpool’s win in Milan earlier this year.

That had opened up the possibility of a deal this summer when Origi looks set to be a free agent and his contract with Liverpool is coming to an end.

Galetti now picks up on that and states that the agent representing Origi has contacted Milan to let them know that Liverpool will not be taking up the option to extend Origi’s contract at Anfield ‘out of respect and esteem’.

As a result, he has been ‘proposed’ to Milan and is their ‘preferred’ option to bolster their forward ranks this summer.

That’s because, unlike the other options on their list, he is available on a free transfer, a major bonus for a club that have been keeping close control of their finances in recent years.

They like the idea of getting Origi on a free and ‘evaluations are in progress’ to do so once he leaves Liverpool at the end of the season.
