On April 7th, we covered claims from Estadio Deportivo that Liverpool are ready to ‘cast the net’ on Sevilla’s Diego Carlos.

It was also explained the Reds are leading the race for the defender, ahead of Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.

Wednesday’s edition of Sport has a report on the 27-year-old titled ‘Liverpool press for Diego Carlos’.

Within the report, it’s explained Liverpool have ‘now taken an interest’ in the Brazilian as Jürgen Klopp believes the Sevilla player can complete Liverpool’s defence by playing alongside Virgil Van Dijk.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund manager has asked his employers to make Carlos’ signing one of the priorities in the next transfer window. The La Liga side, however, have not received any firm offer from the Anfield club.

Apart from Liverpool, Barcelona also looking at the South American and he has been on their radar since last season.

Sevilla are interested in signing Ivan Rakitić and they are ready to include one of their players [Carlos or others] as a part of the deal to sign the Barcelona midfielder. 

Carlos has a release clause of €70m in his contract, but Sport state Sevilla ‘could sell’ the player for €20m less.
