Liverpool eyeing up 23-year-old defender before end of window – Worry he could be ‘sucked in by PL’

As well as trying to improve their midfield, Liverpool appear to still be in the market for a new centre-back, preferably a left-footed one.

That’s why they were interested in Micky van de Ven, who eventually signed for Tottenham, and why they were recently linked to Piero Hincapié.

However, Liverpool have another player on their list, and that is Arthur Theate, who is currently at Stade de Rennes, according to L’Equipe.

The Belgian impressed greatly when he arrived to replace Wout Faes, and he has caught the attention of a few clubs around Europe.

Liverpool are ‘on the hunt for a left-footed defender’, according to the French newspaper, and have joined Fulham, who are also keen.

They muse that, alongside Jérémy Doku, Theate could be ‘sucked in by the Premier League’ if the likes of the Reds come knocking with some money.

That has yet to happen, but it’s something to look out for, as the 23-year-old’s future is now one to keep an eye on.
