Earlier on Monday, we relayed news from Il Messaggero hinting that AS Roma had said no to the possibility of signing Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool.

However, Corriere dello Sport in Italy state there’s still a good chance of the England international ending up in Italy, with Inter the likeliest landing spot if Eder ends up at Crystal Palace.

Needing to replace the departing forward, Inter have turned their attention to Sturridge, but the same problem remains: money.

Corriere explain the Liverpool striker is their ‘first option’ to replace the Italy international, but Liverpool’s demand of €2m up front with a view to buy at €25m is too much for them at this moment in time, probably thinking he isn’t worth that much.

After all, if they do bring him in, it would only be to play second fiddle to Mauro Icardi, as the Argentinian’s form means he is near untouchable these days.

While Inter have been known to spend big recently, splashing out €27m on a back up striker isn’t exactly financially viable for them.

It seems Liverpool might have to lower their demands if they want to get a deal sorted.
