Liverpool’s links with Nabil Fekir have been something of a whirlwind. First claims came from France that a deal was agreed, and then it quietened down again, and then it was agreed again.
L’Equipe have a rather calmer look at the situation in their Monday edition. First off, it’s clear they expect very much Nabil Fekir to leave Lyon this summer, and that’s partly because of the Liverpool interest.
With no competition mentioned, Liverpool are therefore the obvious destination, but whereever the player ends up, L’Equipe believe the transfer ‘should’ happen.
It’s claimed Jurgen Klopp’s club are ‘about to be begin talks’ to sign Fekir, and the French newspaper states that will be after the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
This time there’s no fee mentioned, but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has a tough negotiation reputation and he’ll extract every Euro from Liverpool that he can.
There’s now enough claims from France to make this one sound more than just smoke, and Liverpool could be on the verge of signing themselves a player who can help open up defences when clubs sit back against Klopp’s onslaught, something which is surely only likely to increase.
