Once thought to be set on a free transfer to Barcelona, Adrien Rabiot remains in limbo at Paris Saint-Germain, refusing to sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 side but yet to agree one with anyone else.
According to Paris United in France, the path sending him to Spain appears to be slowly closing as his mother’s behaviour (who is also his agent) hasn’t gone down well.
The French website state the La Liga champions didn’t appreciate Véronique Rabiot holding talks with clubs in Germany and England, including Liverpool, when they were meant to already have an agreement.
While Tottenham and Manchester City have often been touted as potential landing spots for the French midfielder, the Reds’ interest, at least of late, is more recent.
Paris United claim talks are ‘ongoing’ between the Rabiot clan and all three clubs, with Liverpool ‘also in the running’.
The demands remain the same, which means a salary of around €10m post tax per year as well as a signing on fee between €10-15m.
That’s a lot of money, even for Liverpool, and we’ll have to see what happens.
