In the last summer transfer window Yacine Brahimi was repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League. It was claimed in Portugal that Brahimi was keen to move to England, and that Liverpool were one of a number of clubs interested.
Jurgen Klopp was prepared to sanction a €30m summer transfer for the player, according to the claims, but nothing came of it and Brahimi stayed at Porto. Liverpool’s Merseyside rivals Everton were also credited with serious interest but the transfer became increasingly complicated and they weren’t able to get it over the line.
Brahimi is an Algeria international and it was reported in the country last week that the fee for a move in the coming summer window could be as low as €18m to €20m. That would be a significant discount on the wild prices quoted last year, and make the player more attractive to Klopp.
On Saturday Liverpool had an official watch the match between Porto and Nacional, with A Bola believing Porto’s Danilo could be a target.
Liverpool have a long history with ‘Danilo’ transfer rumours and Porto. A couple of years ago the club were interested in Braga’s Danilo, but confusion in the English press saw claims it was interest in Porto’s Danilo instead.
That isn’t the Danilo currently shining for Porto, but rather the one who then left for Real Madrid. Now A Bola believe Liverpool could actually be interested in Porto’s current Danilo.
Confusing, right?
A Bola’s assumption is based upon the scouting trip, but one of the stars of the show for Porto on Saturday was Brahimi, who put in a brilliant performance as his club won 7-0. Oliver Torres, Francisco Soares and Andre Silva also excelled, but with Brahimi primed for the exit for some time, it could well be old interest rekindled.
