When Liverpool brought in Billy Koumetio from US Orléans U19s back in 2019 on a free transfer, it was always going to be a deal for the future.

He gradually made his way through the ranks at Anfield, and it was decided last season that he would go on loan to Austria Vienna, where his time only last six months as he returned in January after they didn’t find him convincing enough.

He spent the second half of the season back at Liverpool, where a decision to send him out on loan again has been taken, as L’Equipe reveal that US Dunkerque in Ligue 2 will be the ones welcoming him.

The deal taking him there will be a simple loan, meaning the Reds will welcome him back at the end of the season no matter what, and no option to buy is included.

The 20-year-old will now spend the next campaign trying to get as many minutes under his belt as possible in order to return to Liverpool with some experience and potentially try and make his way into the first-team down the line.

That’s a lot to ask for, considering who stands in his way, but it could be the first step, as he has a contract with the Premier League club until 2025.
