Moussa Sissoko loves speaking to the French media. Before the midfielder moved to Spurs, he regularly for years spoke about his aims of leaving Newcastle United and playing for a Champions League club.

Those comments always made their way back to England, and at times Sissoko tried to calm the annoyance of Newcastle fans by suggesting he’d bee misquoted or mistranslated, however he gave that up after a while and it was open knowledge Sissoko wanted out, even without relegation.

A reasonable start to Sissoko’s Tottenham career has been interrupted by suspension, and it sounds like he’s very eager to get back going again for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Speaking about the elbow incident with Bournemouth’s Harry Arter, Sissoko said: “It happened at the wrong time. In addition, it was something involuntary. Even the opposing player said. I had to work harder than others in training and some double sessions to keep up.

“Today, all the lights are green… My late signing, my lack of preparation, my blow to the head against Middlesbrough and suspension. All that, now, it’s behind me.”
