Loaned out to Monaco in January with Youri Tielemans going the other way, Adrien Silva was originally a target for Bordeaux.
Spending a few years in the south west of France until he had to return to Portugal, the midfielder was said to be up for a loan spell with the Ligue 1 side, but the return of Leonardo Jardim at the principality club changed everything.
There was talk over the past month of Monaco wanting to keep the Portugal international around as they had been impressed with him on and off the pitch, yet that doesn’t appear to be happening.
According to RMC Sport, Silva remains a ‘priority target’ for Bordeaux, now managed by Paulo Sousa, and the Ligue 1 club will do their utmost to sign him.
The French outlet explain the midfielder will be ‘released of his contract’ at King Power Stadium in the summer, which will cause the French side to come back to the fore.
Wages will undoubtedly remain the toughest hurdle to overcome, but if Silva gets to play for a club he has an affinity towards and under a compatriot, we don’t see why he couldn’t make a few compromises here and there.
