Valencia are currently going through a crisis that Leeds United fans will know well.
They haven’t been able to pay players their full wages for last season, and have asked them to take IOUs so it can be paid at a later date. The squad hasn’t yet agreed, because the scheme isn’t underwritten by the club’s owner Peter Lim.
So bad is the situation that captain Dani Parejo was allowed to join Villarreal on a free transfer, and it’s thought offers will be considered for much of the squad which is left.
Marcelo Bielsa would like the player in for the first game in Leeds’ Premier League campaign, against champions Liverpool.
Last season he played 34 matches and scored 7 goals for Valencia, adding 11 assists. He missed some games at the end of the campaign due to a knee injury.
