Rafa Mujica and Leeds United continues to rumble on in the Spanish media, with none of the claims as big as the one which started it all.
It began on May 13th, when it was claimed the Barcelona B striker had already signed a contract with Leeds and would be moving to Elland Road shortly.
The 20 year old’s deal with Barcelona expires at the end of June so there’d be no need to negotiate a transfer fee.
Then Catalan newspaper Sport spoke of ‘offers from England’ and explained Mujica wouldn’t be renewing because he’s aware 19 year old Abel Ruiz will be ahead of him next season, and that Barcelona also want to give time to 18 year old Alejandro Marqués.
Diario de Mallorca and El Desmarque then backed up Leeds interest, presenting them as competition for Mallorca, Sporting Gijon and Deportivo La Coruna.
It was stated the Yorkshire club have the ‘greater economic potential’ to get a deal done.
Rafa Mujica is from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, and Tinta Amarilla, the local media, explain several clubs have initiated contact. Of those Leeds have the ‘most interest’ in a deal.
So whilst this one doesn’t appear as done as was initially claimed, it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on.
