Everton star Richarlison has made it to Brazil’s Copa America squad. And even though his name was almost certain to be in that list, he claims to have doubted it for a second.

The 22-year-old’s name was one of the last in the list, so before he was announced, he thought the call up was complete and he was left out.

“When he spoke the name of Neymar, I looked to the side and I got worried”, Richarlison told Globo Esporte. “It seemed that the list would end and my name was not called.

“I got very nervous. I prefer a thousand times playing instead of go through this nervousness again. Luckily everything went well.”

Richarlison has three goals in eight caps for Brazil so far. But all of them were in friendly matches, so it’s now time to prove himself in an official tournament.

“It will be different, because it is an official competition within my country. The pressure is great, but the important thing is to do what I have done in the season. I’m motivated.”

Other Premier League players such as Alisson, Ederson, Fernandinho, Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Jesus were all called up as well. However, others like Fabinho, Felipe Anderson and Lucas Moura, who had a great season, ended up being left out by manager Tite.
