Tobias Figueiredo was strongly linked with Leeds United towards the end of 2017, but the claims have gone quiet since.
There were suggestions from press local to the Yorkshire club that Leeds have no interest in the 23 year old, but it would be an odd for the Portuguese media to pluck the claims from thin air and it came soon after Leeds had been scouting Sporting.
Now the claims are back.
In their Sunday edition, A Bola report that Leeds United’s desire to sign the central defender remains, and Sporting are keen for the player to leave this month.
As was the case at the beginning, A Bola state Sporting want €3-4m for Figueiredo, and Leeds United have been informed of that.
The ‘ball is now in Leeds’ court’, say the Portuguese newspaper, and it’s thought they could return to the transfer soon.
Should the interest be real then Leeds are probably best to hold their nerve, because Sporting’s asking price is ambitious for a player who is so far out of the picture he’s been playing for Sporting B this season more than being in the main squad.
