Now sat in the Premier League and with a far brighter and stable future than before, Leeds United don’t like to look back at the Massimo Cellino days.

Their time spent under the Italian was chaotic to say the least, with a never-ending stream of managers and a long list of head scratching transfer decisions.

Edgar Çani can certainly be put into the latter, having joined on loan in February 2015 until the end of the season from Catania.

He would go on to make just four league appearances for the club in a spell that would be mostly forgettable, except for one major incident.

On 18th April 2015, Çani was one six Cellino signings, alongside Mirco Antenucci, Giuseppe Bellusci, Souleymane Doukara, Dario Del Fabro and Marco Silvestri who controversially pulled out of the squad with an ‘injury’ the day before a 2-1 loss to Charlton.

That was one of several issues to hamper Leeds that season and naturally didn’t go down well with the fans, who felt the club had become something of a laughing stock under Cellino.

Well, fast-forward to 2022 and things have not worked out well for Çani.

He’s been slowly falling down the divisions in recent years and today saw him sign for a team competing in Serie D in Italy, the Italian fourth division.

Tuttocampo.it cover his arrival today, putting a positive spin on a transfer that really isn’t exciting for anyone involved.

They see it as a major coup given the 33-year-old’s experience at the higher levels, including his spell in England, but the reality is quite different.

It’s the latest in a long line of failed moves for the player, who has tumbled down the divisions since his time with Leeds United and enjoyed zero success while doing it. Those at Elland Road might call it justice.
