After what was a difficult first season at Leeds United despite the club spending a lot of money on him, Georginio Rutter is now starting to give back in the Championship.

The young Frenchman has been one of the better players for the Whites this season, and capped off his latest outing with the winner against league leaders Leicester City.

These performances at Leeds have caught the eye of Thierry Henry, who has rewarded the 21-year-old’s good form with a call up to the France U21 squad to play against Austria and South Korea in the coming weeks.

This isn’t the first time the Plescop-born striker has represented his country at youth level, having done so at every level from U15 onwards, but has seen himself left out of the last few U21 squads.

Henry has rectified that this time around, clearly impressed with the striker’s three goals and five assists in 14 league games for Leeds this season.

Now, it will be up to him to impress the former Monaco manager in person to ensure that he ends up in his good books for future call-ups, and perhaps learn a lot from him in the process.

After all, who better to be guided by than one of the greatest Premier League forwards of all time?
