Manchester United’s decision to sell Scott McTominay to Napoli for €30m this summer continues to be questioned in Italy, as the Scot continues to win fans.
Todays comments come from Diego Maradona Junior, via Calcio Napoli 24, who it seems cannot believe Manchester United let McTominay go for such a fee.
The Scotland international has been a big hit at Napoli since arriving in the summer, when he was brought in as part of the rebuild for Antonio Conte.
He was greeted at the airport by excited fans the day he flew in, and the excitement has grown since then, particularly as his appearances continue to grow.
The fact he has been making a positive impression on the pitch has helped in that regard too, with one goal and one assist in four league games so far, his first strike coming in the 3-1 win over Como on Friday.
With all that praise has come the inevitable question of why Manchester United let the player go, particularly as their midfield issues under Erik ten Hag continue.
Most in Naples believe they have pulled off one of the bargains of the summer and it seems Maradona Jr is one of them.
“McTominay? I don’t understand how Manchester United managed to sell him for €30m,” Calcio Napoli 24 report him saying.
“They got rid of a very strong player, but luckily, he came to us. He could start a cycle; I see him as the new Hamsik.”
