Both Brighton and Newcastle had scouts in attendance to watch Copenhagen youngster Roony Bardghji in action against Manchester United on Wednesday.
That’s according to Jeunes Footeux, who say they were one of several sides to send a representative to watch the 17-year-old and see him shine against Erik ten Hag’s squad.
They report that Bardghji is a ‘name worth remembering’ and proved that against Manchester United with the winning goal in the 87th minute of the game.
That was his 11th goal of the season and confirmed his status as one of the potential rising stars of Europe, with him already nicknamed the ‘Swedish Messi’.
The big teams in Europe are all keeping an eye on him and both Newcastle and Brighton were one of several teams to send scouts to watch him for Copenhagen’s clash with Manchester United on Wednesday.
They’re all aware that Bardghji’s current contract expires in 2025 and unless he signs a new deal, Copenhagen will have to sell sooner rather than later. Indeed, they believe he ‘should certainly’ be a topic in the January transfer window.
Whether that means he ends up in England remains to be seen but Brighton and Newcastle are certainly watching and were given a treat with his performance as reward for their trip.
