AC Milan goalkeeper Noah Raveyre has revealed he had an offer from Chelsea this summer.
The goalkeeper has been talking to L’Eveil, relayed by Peuple Vert, about the offer from Chelsea to move to Stamford Bridge and his decision to turn it down.
The 18-year-old is currently at AC Milan after joining them on a free transfer from Saint-Etienne’s U18’s in the summer.
He’s set to be a part of their youth team moving forwards, with the goal naturally to impress there and perhaps end up in the first team down the line.
Milan has always been a breeding ground for young talent and that remains the case, with those in charge having changed strategy in recent years to focus on signing players to be developed for the future.
That’s a strategy being adopted by several clubs thanks to the success of others, with Chelsea having also gone that way since the arrival of Todd Boehly.
They’ve currently spent over a €1bn signing young talent from all over the world as they look to move away form their old model and focus on potentially selling stars for profit down the line.
It seems that focus on securing top talent lead them to approach Raveyre, but he had other ideas for his career.
“I accomplished part of my dream by becoming a professional in one of the biggest clubs in the world,” he said.
“I also think that the most complicated paths lead to the greatest successes. Other clubs like Chelsea were interested, it can make your head spin, that’s for sure. But only the sports project interested me.
“I didn’t want to talk about offers that didn’t lead to anything concrete. At 18, I couldn’t rely on a financial project. We know that there is money in this environment, but sportsmanship comes first, because I am young, and football is my passion.”
