The Ligue 1 side have been flirting with the 26-year-old for some time and a deal seemed to be taking shape, but this was before Leeds joined the battle.
As of Wednesday, the website states the player isn’t in favour of joining Leeds since they are in the Championship. Meanwhile, Marseille haven’t taken the necessary steps to sign him just yet.
Amiri’s contract lasts until 2024. Xabi Alonso’s side could risk seeing him leave for free next summer if they fail to cash in from his sale in this window.
The German scored four goals and registered two assists from 36 games last season.
