Leeds United’s Junior Firpo missed the start of this season due to a knee injury and this saw Jesse Marsch deploy Pascal Struijk on the left side of defence.
Struijk impressed for the Whites and kept his place in the XI even after the former Barcelona man regained full fitness in October. Firpo has been restricted to only four appearances this season, which includes one league start.
Junior’s current situation at Leeds makes him ‘look favourably’ at changing clubs in the winter market, according to ElDesmarque.
The 26-year-old had a spell at Real Betis before leaving them for Barcelona in 2019. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are expected to complete the sale of Álex Moreno to Aston Villa and are also searching the market for a new left-back.
ElDesmarque state the Leeds fullback’s name is on Betis’ table and is one of the options to replace Moreno. The La Liga side are also handling other names to bolster their defence this month.
Junior has a contract until 2025 and is a target for Betis in January. Although the player would favour a move away from the Whites, the report states his departure from Leeds in the current window would ‘not be easy’.
