Now comfortably in charge at Leeds United, Marcelo Bielsa is doing a fantastic job in Yorkshire.

However, ghosts from his past remain, and the Argentine manager is currently in a legal battle with his former side, Lille, regarding the way they parted ways.

Bielsa felt he was somewhat mistreated during the sacking process, and was asking somewhere around €19m in compensation, which included €12.9m in wages and €6m for ‘various prejudices’.

That, however, has been dismissed by the labour courts, who decided not to recognise a pre-contract signed in February 14th 2017, which included the aforementioned compensation, instead only focusing on the actual contract put in front of the French league dating July 1st 2017.

They also ruled he did commit serious misconduct, which was the grounds Lille sacked him on, described by La Voix du Nord as a ‘rare decision, when it comes to sports, that could set a precedent’.

On top of that, Bielsa was ordered to €5000 to Lille, although it is expected from the Ligue 1 side for their former manager to ‘appeal’ the decision.

Should he and his lawyers decide to follow that route, La Voix du Nord explain such a procedure tends to take two years on average, meaning Leeds and their fans haven’t heard the last of this.
