This week, we’ve been seeing several reports from Brazil claiming there are many clubs getting interested in Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães.

With the midfielder doing pretty well for the Magpies since his arrival in January, it’s nearly inevitable that he gets linked to European giants.

However, the 24-year-old still seems to be pretty satisfied at the club.

ESPN Brasil today publishes some quotes which seem to come from an interview they had with Bruno Guimarães after Newcastle’s game last weekend. Now in these new bits, he talks about his success at St. James’ Park and the huge affection he gets from the fans.

“I go out on the street and feel like the city mayor sometimes,” Bruno Guimarães told ESPN Brasil.

“Everyone was very welcoming. The least I can do is learn English, which I’m doing, and respect the club as best I can.”

“It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League, since I was little. When I had my first contact with Newcastle, to be honest, I didn’t believe Lyon would accept the proposal. But when we talked and everything worked out, I was very excited. I knew I had made the right decision.”

“It’s one of the most beautiful stadiums in England. I think the atmosphere here is unique. There’s no other atmosphere as cool as the one in St James’ Park. I really feel at home playing here. It also reminds me a lot of my first club in Brazil, Athletico. The stadium reminds me a little of the atmosphere, the crowd is close to the field, it’s nice too. So I only have good things to say here.”

Despite the many rumours about an exit, it’s also been widely reported that Newcastle are keen on offering Bruno Guimarães a new contract at the club.

It’s been stated that the Magpies want to make the midfielder the best paid athlete in the squad, besides extending his deal until 2027.

Judging by how happy he sounds, perhaps there’s indeed a good chance of an agreement for him to stay for longer.
