Following Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Manchester United at the weekend, the Brazilian media had a word with Gunners’ star Gabriel Martinelli.

ESPN Brasil correspondent João Castelo-Branco was at the Emirates Stadium for the match, and with Mikel Arteta’s side victory, there were many things to talk about with the young attacker.

Martinelli obviously had a lot to say about Arsenal’s recent form, and was also asked about the signing of Leandro Trossard, who has just arrived from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Castelo-Branco mentioned that the Belgian player could even end up competing with the Brazilian for a place in the squad, but asked if a reinforcement for that position was needed, since Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have been playing all the games lately.

“He’ll be a very important player for us. We know his quality,” Gabriel Martinelli told ESPN Brasil.

“He did very well at Brighton and will certainly help a lot. And we are trying to welcome him in the best possible way so that he can be calm and show his football.”

Gabriel Martinelli has seven goals and two assists in Arsenal’s Premier League campaign, being one of those who have been standing out in Mikel Arteta’s side this season.

During the weekend’s game against Manchester United, he was coincidentally replaced by Trossard, who made his debut for the Gunners following his recent move.
