Just in case you were worried the transfer window closing meant no more silly season, you were wrong.
Like, super wrong.
Despite clubs not being able to sign players until January, the January transfer window is already a big thing for newspapers, especially Tuttosport, who look at who Juventus can sign on a free next summer.
Among those are three Manchester United players: Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini.
Before we get into this properly, it’s worth pointing out that all three will probably sign a new contract at some point in the next six months, as it’s very unlikely the club will let them leave on a free, even if they do plan on getting rid next summer.
Still, let’s entertain the idea.
Tuttosport are weary about the three, as there are ‘options to extend the contract by a year’ present, but all three do present a profile Max Allegri would be happy with.
Marouane Fellaini has been linked with Juventus in the past, quite a few times, actually, while Juan Mata is a number 10 that would fit nicely in a 4231, just behind someone like Gonzalo Higuain.
Of course, there’s already a certain Paulo Dybala who can play there, but who knows if he’ll still be there next summer?
As for Ander Herrera, considering Juventus are very keen on Emre Can, having someone capable of getting the ball back and helping the team go forward immediately with a pass or a burst into space, going for the Spaniard if the German decides to stay at Anfield isn’t a bad alternative.
This seems all very hypothetical by Tuttosport, for now, at least.
