Argentine star Pablo Zabaleta has played a key role in Manchester City’s success over the past few years, but after a series of injuries this season, it seems he is set to leave the Etihad this summer.

The 31-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a move to AS Roma, and Gazzetta dello Sport, on Thursday, confirm the same.

Gazzetta say AS Roma boss, Luciano Spalletti, is keen on signing defensive reinforcements this summer, and has asked for a few changes.

It is reported Roma are keeping close tabs on Zabaleta, and could move for him after June 30th once the financial accounts are settled for last season.

His agent, Federico Pastorello, has earlier confirmed Roma are interested in signing Zabaleta, and there could something in it.

Zabaleta hasn’t signed a new contract at City, and that probably confirms he’d be leaving this summer, or maybe next summer on a free.

The Argentine right back has lost his place to Bacary Sagna in the team, and made just 13 league appearances last season.
