When Mexico manager Gerardo Martino spoke on Wednesday to the local media regarding the physical situation of Wolverhampton Wanderers star Raul Jimenez, it all seemed fine.
Despite ruling out of the next two international games, the coach claimed there should be enough time for him to recover and play in the World Cup.
That was later backed up by the player’s father, who when interviewed by Esto, said the striker would be back in a week or so.
The latest updates from Mexico, however, bring some worrying news about the Wolves star.
It was first TUDN who came up with a report saying that despite Martino’s comments, Jimenez on Wednesday underwent an MRI regarding his injury.
They claimed there’s now ‘concern’ because the final call-up for the World Cup is on the 14th of November.
Then WRadio journalist Juan Carlos Zuniga showed up to comment on the news shared by TUDN.
He states that ‘Martino’s face said it all’ during the press conference, and then claims that Jimenez ‘will not go to Qatar’.
That sounds more like a guess, especially since nothing official has come out, although that’s definitely something to be attentive about.
In case the striker’s injury is that serious, that certainly means he’s missing a few months with Wolves as well.
