Despite some early talk that Kevin Malcuit could feature against Liverpool, Il Mattino don’t think that’s going to happen.
Predicting their local side’s lineup, the Italian newspaper feel Carlo Ancelotti will continue to trust the two full-backs who endured a torrid time against Juventus at the weekend in Elseid Hysaj and Mario Rui.
They will be in charge of dealing with Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah, and will be relying on the backtracking ability of Piotr Zielinski as the left sided midfielder in a 4-4-2 and José Callejon to help them with the attacking prowess of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.
In midfield, Il Mattino don’t think Jordan Henderson will start, with a trio of James Milner, Naby Keita and Georginio Wijnaldum trying to overload Allan and Fabian Ruiz in the centre of the park, with Marek Hamsik on the bench.
It’s worth pointing out that Carlo Ancelotti’s 4-4-2 can easily turn into a 4-3-3 if more attacking football is needed, as Zielinski can tuck into the centre of the pitch, and Callejon can be pushed forward to help out the two forwards Lorenzo Insigne and Arkadiusz Milik.
The conservative approach from Napoli appears to come from a desire to get something out of the game against a potentially rampant Liverpool after their 0-0 draw against Red Star Belgrade on September 18th.
