A week or so ago, a couple of reports emerged, reminding everyone the Kalidou Koulibaly, an alleged Chelsea target, was available at €70m; a number that had been reported ever since he renewed his contract with the Serie A side back in 2016.

However, over the weekend in an article looking at “Kalidoumania” around Europe, Corriere dello Sport make one thing very clear: the Senegalese defender does not have a release clause in his contract.

Ever since Antonio Conte took over at Stamford Bridge, the centre-back has been linked with Chelsea, and it appears the idea of signing the 26-year-old has become ingrained within the Premier League club, seemingly ready to move for him even if the Italian leaves at the end of the season.

As things stand, the newspaper believe Koulibaly is valued at around €80m, but, in the Napoli owner’s eyes, he ‘doesn’t have a price’.

Following this, the newspaper published an interview with Bruno Satin, the player’s agent, on their website later on Monday and asked him he was worth €100m on today’s market.

His answer: “De Laurentiis makes assessments because Kalidou doesn’t have a clause. The president can also decide to keep him because he considers him important for the team”.

That’s that, then.
