For the first time since early March, Jerry Mbakogu got on a football pitch at the weekend.

The Carpi striker, whose club have revealed is the subject of a gentleman’s agreement to join Leeds United in the summer, came on as a substitute after a period out with knee injuries.

Leeds fans may not be thrilled about the transfer, but it must be said Mbakogu seems to have a lot of fans at Carpi and in the media surrounding the club. Therefore, the comeback was much awaited and is a boost for the final games of the season.

It was just a run out, Mbakogu only got a minute, but it’s been a good few days for the footballer.

As Gazzetta di Modena report, ‘He can now go to Leeds’ after finally getting an EU passport which removes the need for a work permit. That’s described as a ‘fundamental step’ in the transfer, and now everything can go ahead.

The transfer fee isn’t disclosed, but Gazzetta di Modena believe it’ll be around €3-4m.
