As the Portuguese media continues to talk about Nuno Tavares’ potential departure from Benfica this summer, Southampton keep being pointed out as one of the clubs who could land the fullback.
Today it’s newspaper A Bola who features a story on the future of the 21-year-old, and most of their attention goes to Napoli, who seem to be engaged in negotiations with the Eagles already.
Benfica hope they can make between €15m and €20m with the transfer, and while there’s no ‘white smoke’ in the talks with the Italian side, the interest from English clubs is highlighted.
A Bola writes that Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Southampton follow the player, but it’s only the St. Mary’s side who actually contacted the Eagles some time ago.
None of the outlets seem to think that Saints are in talks for the transfer, but they all identify the club as a side who could join the competition for the player this summer.
Right now, it looks like a matter of only outbiding Napoli, since Benfica seem pretty interested in cashing in with his departure in this transfer window.
