With fears that an ankle injury could keep him out of the World Cup, it appears that both Aston Villa and Lucas Digne received good news on Monday.
This comes courtesy of L’Equipe, who report the player was ‘reassured’ by the examinations undertaken in England, and the defender should only be out for ‘two to three weeks’.
While there are no guarantees that Didier Deschamps will call him up for the tournament in around six weeks, the recovery time frame appears to give him at least a chance.
Initially left out of the squad for the current international break, he was called up to replace an injured Théo Hernández, but was swiftly sent back to Aston Villa when a ‘fracture’ was found in his right ankle.
While it was initially believed that such an injury would take six to seven weeks to recover from, ‘news exams undertaken over the past few days in England are far more reassuring’.
In fact, the doctors believe ‘two to three weeks’ should be enough to see him back on a football pitch, because the injury was found ‘in time’.
Therefore, if all goes well, the Aston Villa player should be back mid-October.
