When Tottenham Hotspur signed Radu Dragusin from Genoa in January, we saw the Romanian media creating huge expectations around the move.

Even though it’s completely normal for players to take time to adapt to Premier League clubs, there’s now been some concern on why the defender isn’t a regular starter at Ange Postecoglou’s side yet.

Romania’s Sport today brings a story on that subject, having interviewed agent, businessman, and all-round man-in-football, Victor Becali to talk about Tottenham’s signing.

The representative made it clear that there should be no concern about the transfer for now, as Dragusin will still have enough time to make his full adaptation to Spurs.

“It takes time for Dragusin. No, that’s it, he’s played, a player next to him scored… No! And I have no reason to praise Dragușin. He’s a young boy, he has very, very strong competition. He plays, he competes with maybe two of the best central defenders in Europe, it’s not easy.”

Becali also insisted that Tottenham wouldn’t make such an investment on a player who’s not needed.

“When people throw millions like that, I think they know what they’re doing. If they’ve got the millions, they must know what they’re doing with them.”

Tottenham spent €25m to sign Dragusin from Genoa. Since then, he’s made six appearances for Spurs, with 229 minutes played, and didn’t come off the bench in their last two Premier League clashes.

Spurs are surely not panicking about the signing, and even though the Romanian media always sounds worried, perhaps Becali’s quotes will now change their minds.
