Since Josko Gvardiol’s impressive performances at the World Cup, Chelsea have stood out as one of the main candidates to sign him.
Several reports claimed the Blues are very interested in landing the RB Leipzig defender, with recent stories saying the Blues carry on with the pursuit.
It turns out that as Calcio Mercato now features an interview with intermediary Vincenzo Cavaliere, they put forward questions about several Croatian talents, with Gvardiol obviously being among them.
The first question was about the defender’s market value, with the website asking the agent if the player is really worth €100m.
“In my opinion, yes,” Cavaliere told Calcio Mercato.
“A player’s valuation is directly proportional to how much a club is willing to pay for him, and with the prices at which certain players get away, I’d say yes. Gvardiol is 20 years old, he’s a regular in a big club like Leipzig and in the Croatian national team, third in the world.”
“I think he eventually goes to Chelsea.”
With Calcio Mercato not giving much attention to that answer, they asked Cavaliere if Serie A clubs ever got close to signing the defender.
“Atalanta and Milan had looked for him, but the most serious approach was that of Inter when the boy played for Dinamo Zagreb’s Allievi. The Croatian club did not want to sell him and nothing was done about him.”
Following all the reports about Chelsea’s pursuit for Gvardiol, claims from Germany on Friday said the Blues have been making new attempts to sign the 20-year-old, as a deal is more likely to happen in the summer than in the January window.
