Paris Saint Germain midfielder Vitinha has revealed what he learned from his short and unsuccessful loan spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 22-year-old joined the French giants in a £37.35m deal earlier this month after impressing for Porto last season.

He managed four goals and five assists in all competitions for the Portuguese side, having returned to them from a loan deal at Wolves the previous year.

The midfielder spent the 2020/21 season at Molineux on loan, with them having an option to make the deal a permanent one at the end of the campaign.

That is something they elected not to do after Vitinha ended up playing a bit part role at best, making 23 appearances in all competitions but accumulating just 799 minutes of football overall.

The move to Molineux was widely considered a disappointing one, hence some surprise at PSG paying so much for him this summer.

But while Vitinha didn’t manage to make much of an impact, it seems he considers the time spent at Wolves as worthwhile.

“I didn’t play as much as I would have liked, but I grew up quite a bit, and it gave me things that I certainly wouldn’t have had if I stayed at FC Porto,” he told L’Equipe.

“I stepped out of my comfort zone. It was a good thing for me, for my professional development, to help me grow. I perceive it that way even if, outside the field, I discovered something else too.

“I rubbed shoulders with good players, especially Portuguese ones like Moutinho, who helped and advised me a lot, and not just on the pitch.

“It’s different; you’re far from your friends, from most of your family. You have to change your habits.”
