There was a point in the early stages of the season where it seemed like Youri Tielemans was going to be a a flop at Aston Villa.
It was a very quick assessment made by many at the time, because the midfielder, who had starred at Leicester City for so many years, was struggling to make it into Unai Emery’s plans.
Things have now changed for the Aston Villa player, who is now a regular in the squad, who spoke about his early struggles while on international duty with Belgium, relayed by Le Soir.
As for himself, he is now happy: “I never regretted my choice. It happens step by step, I know there is a project in place and there is sometimes a period of adaptation. I’ve already worked a lot and I know that I’m reaping the rewards now.”
Starting seven of the last eight games for Aston Villa, the 26-year-old now has 37 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League side, scoring two goals and assisting another five.
He could be in line to captain Belgium because of injuries and players being rested, which he admitted would be a great honour in what would be his 66th cap for his country.
