With the World Cup coming up, Globo’s Sunday show Esporte Espetacular continues to feature interviews with Brazilian national team players.
This weekend, Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison had a long chat about his love for the Seleção and what he’s about to do in the Qatar tournament.
The 25-year-old is well known at the national team for being a funny player, but he now makes it clear that when working at Spurs, he does a pretty serious job so he can get called up for the international tournaments.
“I’ve been like that since I was a kid, a playful guy, I like to play with people. So I think people like it. But of course we know that many people confuse. That’s why I always say that if I’m in the national team it’s because I honour the shirt,” Richarlison told Globo.
With two goals and three assists for Tottenham this season, Richarlison is expected to be Brazil’s number nine in the World Cup this year.
That’s not only due to his form at Spurs, but mostly because of the recent performances he’s had in Brazil games.
The Tottenham forward holds a record of 16 goals in 37 caps for his country, and despite being tested on the wings, he’s recently been giving a chance to start in the centre-forward position, where he’s been doing great, with three goals in his last two games.
