Roberto De Zerbi arrived at Brighton & Hove Albion last September and the impressive work carried out by him in less than a year has already seen him get linked to Tottenham Hotspur and a few Serie A sides.
The Seagulls appointed the Italian as Graham Potter’s successor after the latter left them for Chelsea. Potter was shown the exit door at the west London club earlier this month, days after Spurs parted ways with Antonio Conte.
Tottenham have appointed Cristian Stellini as their acting head coach until they find Conte’s permanent successor.
Brighton January signing Yasin Ayari gave a detailed interview to today’s Sportbladet. During the course of the discussion, the 19-year-old heaped praise on De Zerbi’s coaching methods.
“If he leaves, then I’m happy for him. But of course, I want to… If I could choose, I would have him all my life. So, I hope for the best,” he said.
It’ll be interesting to see whether De Zerbi will become his compatriot’s successor at Tottenham, return to Serie A or continue at Brighton next season, although the latter the seemingly likeliest scenario after the manager himself stated he wanted to stick around.
