Club América midfielder Sebastien Córdova has admitted he would be open to moving to Europe, and would particularly like to play in England.
The 22-year-old was linked with a move to Manchester United last year, with them reportedly becoming aware of him when on a scouting mission to watch José Juan Macías.
However, it was Córdova’s performance that ‘caught their attention’, leading to suggestions that United could make a move in the near future.
Mexico coach Gerardo Martino added fuel to that fire when he commented on the reported interest in Córdova from Manchester United.
There have been no updates since then, with Córdova, who already has three appearances for Mexico’s senior side, continuing to develop in his homeland.
However, the youngster has now commented on the rumours, admitting he’s got his eye on a switch to England if the opportunity ever presents itself.
“I already feel ready to go,” he told TUDN.
“At the moment I think that they are purely rumours, but of course I would like to play for these teams.
“Of those teams that mentioned I would like to play in England, but we’ll see which teams come and decide which would be the best.”
If Manchester United are among those chasing his signature is up for debate, but it certainly wouldn’t be surprising if they were.
The club has elected to focus on youth under Ole Gunnar Solskjær and a young player like Córdova, who has already caught their attention, would fit into that.
Perhaps, though, he needs first to establish himself at his current club and shine there before Old Trafford really comes calling.
