Premier League side Manchester United got a discreet mention in a press conference from Mexico manager Gerardo Martino this week.

The national team boss was asked about a couple of players who have been involved in the rumour mill, and it turns out the Red Devils would be interested in both of them.

It’s José Juan Macias and Sebastian Cordova who Martino was asked about, and he claims that due to their quality, this kind of chase is completely normal.

“The important teams in Europe must have in their sights on more than 100 players in the world, which does not mean that they are going to buy them. So they are in the sight of Benfica or Manchester like so many others, it’s the work they must do,” he said (via Medio Tiempo).

“If there is any comment, it’s because they generate it for their performances and are doing things well, it’s likely that there are scouts who take them into account.”

Manchester United were linked to both players at the start of the month. It’s been reported the Old Trafford side had been watching them play for the Mexico national team, in claims was made by Fox Sports.

The local media even said Macias, who’s the main target, could become the ‘new Chicharito’ by making a move to the Red Devils. Meanwhile Cordova, who’s a midfielder at Club America, caught attention during one of the matches.
