Sevilla cannot afford to sign midfielder Boubakary Soumaré on a permanent basis from Leicester City in the summer, despite an overriding desire to do so.
That’s according to Vamos Mi Sevilla, who say Sevilla have been forced to make a ‘painful decision’ regarding the on-loan midfielder.
Soumaré has been with them since the summer, when he arrived on loan from Leicester in a deal until the end of the season.
That deal includes an option for Sevilla to make the move a permanent one, with Leicester inserting a €15m purchase clause in the deal, but Sevilla simply can’t afford it.
The Leicester man is the one that ‘hurts the most’, though, as the footballer has demonstrated his abilities this season, establishing himself as a key player throughout the campaign.
Indeed, that €15m price tag is seen as ‘affordable’ and perhaps something of a bargain given what he’s shown this year, but Sevilla simply can’t afford to pay the sum as it would compromise their planning completely.
Soumaré therefore is set to return to Leicester, where it remains to be seen what they decide to do with him.
