Just as Wednesday’s transfer news was dying out, Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo decided to throw a huge story out into the rumour mill.
It’s claimed that Manchester United have launched a huge offensive to try and sign Neymar from Barcelona. The Premier League club have apparently been rushed into action because they’re worried Neymar is close to renewing and extending his deal at the Camp Nou.
That would also see the Brazilian’s buyout clause rise, and Manchester United would prefer it didn’t.
Mundo Deportivo point out Manchester United’s interest in Neymar is long standing, and they say this time Manchester United have got agent Pini Zahavi working on the potential transfer.
Barcelona have got representatives out in Brazil working on a renewal, and it’s not a shock to see other clubs linked as the talks go on.
The newspaper say Manchester United have previously approached with a €192m ‘mega offer’, which was refused… but then the most widespread reports state Neymar’s buyout clause as being €190m.
