Marco Silva’s latest comments on Joao Palhinha have seemingly given Bayern Munich optimism to move for the Fulham star in the January transfer window.

Sport 1 cover the player today and say the Portuguese manager’s comments are a ‘good sign’ for the German champions moving forwards.

Palhinha was on the verge of a move to Bayern on deadline day of the summer transfer window but saw the deal collapse at the last minute as Fulham refused to send the paperwork after failing to secure a replacement.

The prospect of a move in January seemed to have been ended when the midfielder signed a new deal at Fulham much to the surprise of everyone but subsequent reports from Germany have indicated that it may mean very little.

Bayern remain keen on the player and Sport 1 say that Silva’s recent comments on the matter are a ‘good sign’ for the Germans.

“I can’t control the future,” he said when asked about Palhinha.

“If you receive big offers and given the size of the club, there will be noise. I can’t influence what will happen in January or next summer. The club is in control.”

Sport 1 add that despite a deal falling through and his new contract, Palhinha’s interest in moving to Bavaria ‘has not changed’. The belief is that a new attempt will probably follow in the winter.

They also cover the new contract, which they say, ‘astonished everywhere’, did not change the likelihood of a move happening and instead was signed because it had ‘financial advantages’ for the midfielder.

It seems, then, the idea of a move away from Fulham and to Bayern hasn’t died down yet and there will most likely be plenty of rumours to be dealt with in the coming months.
