While many have been critical of the transfers made by Saudi Arabian clubs this summer, some, including Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski, don’t see it as a problem.

The Spurs star is currently with the Sweden national team during the international break and sat down with the local media on Wednesday to discuss various matters.

One of them was the money being thrown around by Saudi clubs to convince clubs from all over Europe to sell and players to move there, which was relayed by Expressen.

The outlet explain why this investment has often been criticised, pointing out the Saudi regime’s backing of it all and the poor human rights record in the country, but explain the Tottenham player ‘takes a positive view’ on everything that has happened this summer.

He said: “We will see how it goes. There have been a lot of players who have gone there, so it’s fun. It’s a new league, absolutely. A new league that many players are applying for. Then we’ll see how it turns out in the future. We’ll see how it goes with them wanting to play in the Champions League, have the best teams there and so on.

“I have absolutely nothing against it. I have many friends who have gone there. We have Robin [Quaison, who plays for Al-Ettifaq] there. I ask what the difference is now that all the new players have arrived. Has the level been raised? It’s fun.”

Kulusevski made his 18-month loan from Juventus a permanent fixture in the summer, with Tottenham paying the Serie A side a fee of €30m.

The 23-year-old has been a starting player for Spurs since first arriving and already boasts eight goals and 16 assists in 62 games for the Premier League side.
