Fulham and West Ham United continue to be named in the race for São Paulo defender Luizao.

The news is today brought by Brazilian outlet IG, who features an update on the Tricolor’s recent efforts to renew the player’s contract, which expires in January.

It’s said a new meeting between São Paulo and Luizão’s representatives are set to take place in the coming days, even though an agreement is considered to be ‘hard’.

IG then claims that besides ‘making contact’ in the last window, Fulham and West Ham are still following the 20-year-old’s situation.

Despite the opportunity of signing a pre-agreement with any club, it’s said Luizão’s staff are not thinking of doing that.

Plus the defender himself would rather let São Paulo have some kind of financial compensation for his exit rather than leave them without anything.

It was recently claimed that West Ham placed an offer for the player, but that was turned down by him.

Meanwhile, Fulham have indeed been linked with the youngster many times, and seem to stand as another real option for him.

The Premier League sides, however, are said to have the competition from Porto and Benfica, which tends to be the step a lot of Brazilians normally take before trying their hand at the Premier League.
