This week, we’ve covered reports from Portugal claiming Fulham are very close to signing SC Braga midfielder Almoatasembellah Al Musrati, with some claims even saying an agreement for the move was in place.

Reacting to the news, Spanish outlet Estádio Deportivo now claims the Cottagers are buying the Libya international as an alternative to Real Betis’ William Carvalho.

Recalling that Fulham had already tried to sign the Portuguese midfielder last year, when he turned down all offers he had to leave,, it’s claimed that Marco Silva made a new request for the Whites to sign the player this summer.

Betis are even said to be open to selling Carvalho this time, since he’s shown no signs of planning to renew his contract and they’d rather make money now than losing him for free next summer.

But by signing Al Musrati, it’s said Fulham would now ‘close the doors’ to Carvalho, putting an end to any chances of his arrival at the Craven Cottage this summer.

Estádio Deportivo recalls that the clubs have also been in talks for the transfer of Alex Moreno. However, the with the Whites insisting they’d only pay up to €10m and Betis demanding €15m plus €3m in bonuses, the agreement ‘is not close’. That’s why the London side have been looking for alternatives for the left-back position.
