The big news over the weekend from France was an alleged agreement between Nabil Fékir and Liverpool that could see the Lyon forward moving to Anfield for €70m.

Since then, Jean-Michel Aulas, the Ligue 1 side’s president, has vehemently denied discussions were underway, and the footballer himself also dismissed talk of a move, wanting to focus on his current side’s end to the season.

However, on Monday night, SFR Sport journalist Loic Tanzi explained that another sign pointed towards the France international leaving in the summer: what his father is doing these days.

Mohamed Fékir is set to take over as president of local club Vaulx-en-Velin, one of Nabil’s first clubs, and the reason he’s doing that is to be in charge of the money they will be receiving from FIFA’s solidarity mechanism.

We covered these in detail back in February after Aymeric Laporte’s transfer to Manchester City gave €650k to a fifth-tier French club on the verge of bankruptcy, and it seems Vaulx-en-Velin could end up getting a chunk of cash in the future.

This move by Fékir’s dad, which was announced back in March, according to Tanzi, shows a transfer this summer has been on the cards for a while.

Whether that is to Liverpool, however, remains to be seen, as, in the same segment, SFR Sport claimed the Lyon forward would prefer a move to Atlético Madrid should it present itself in case of an Antoine Griezmann departure.
