Despite being talked about as a done deal for quite a while now, Mario Pasalić has yet to definitely transfer to Atalanta from Chelsea.

The Croatian midfielder has been loaned to the Serie A side for the past two seasons now, where he has flourished into a great all round player, leading to Gian Piero Gasperini wanting to keep him permanently.

A pre-agreed fee was negotiated for them to do so, but TuttoMercatoWeb reveal on Friday Atalanta are trying to be a little bit cheeky by asking for a small discount from the Stamford Bridge club.

It’s explained talks between the two sides are ‘feverish’ as the Italians look at knocking a bit of money off the €15m clause ‘perhaps by inserting a clause for the next resale’.

The whole situation is described as being ‘in the making’, but TuttoMercatoWeb do state ‘there is optimism to find an agreement in the next few days’, as the loan is meant to expire on June 30th.

That’s the final hurdle for Atalanta to overcome, as the website write that Chelsea’s Pasalić has already agreed to a contract with the Serie A club, where he will earn €1.5m/year plus bonuses on a four-year contract.

All in all, it’s heading in the right direction, it seems.
