Kai Havertz is edging closer to completion, and Chelsea fans should soon have another signing to be thankful for. The German media have been confident for some time, going back over a month, that a move to Stamford Bridge was likely this summer.

Havertz to Chelsea has long been treated very differently than Jadon Sancho to Manchester United, for example, with the former transfer feeling easier to do.

That doesn’t mean Bayer Leverkusen have been handing out big discounts to help the Blues get their man. SportBild report Chelsea should be paying €80m in a guaranteed payment, a further €10m based on expected performance, such as qualifying for the Champions League, with another €10m related to trophy success.

The German magazine believe everything should materialise this week, and they talk down any danger of the move collapsing at the last minute.

Indeed, the bigger question now for Bayer Leverkusen is what to do with all that lovely money they’ll receive from Chelsea, and SportBild throw out a few names out as targets, explaining how the funds will be spent.

This is the latest in a long line of positive takes from Germany on Havertz to Chelsea, and perhaps it’s going to be one of the last.
